Last Day on Snow
The sun comes out for our last day on the slopes.
Where does the time disappear to? Friday was our last day on the slopes and we returned to the Grafenburg lift above Wagrain where we started the week. The sun was out and everyone was in excellent spirits.
The beginner skiers impressed everyone descending the red run from the top of the mountain to the six man chair lift at mid mountain, a real achievement showing how far they had progressed over the course of the week. The rest of the groups headed across the ski area to Alpendorf on the far side of the mountain. This was a real ski/board adventure crossing three different bowls via a variety of pistes, chair lifts and gondolas. The snow conditions were once again excellent and whilst everyone had an amazing day we were all a bit sad to know that this was the last time we would be skiing these mountains...for the time being at least!!
All that was left was to shower, change, eat and board the coach ready for the long journey back to Sheffield. Baz and Gary, our coach drivers, made excellent time getting us back to the Euro Tunnel in good time only to be delayed by an incident inside the tunnel. However, we continued our journey home, saying goodbye to Baz and Gary at South Mimms where we picked up our relief driver. The next goodbye was to our new friends from Derby Moor Community College. Both the staff and the students from Derby Moor had fitted in perfectly with our Tapton group and we may even see each other again in the future.
Pulling into school at the end of the journey marked the end of a fantastic week which will live long in the memory. Thank you for the staff who made this trip possible and so successful; Mr Reed, Mr Fuller, Miss Eaton and Mr Sellars and thank you to a great bunch of students who made it a real pleasure to be away with them. Roll on February 2015!!
