The course consists of 6 units

- The Physical World – rivers, coasts and glaciers
- The Human World – population and settlement
- The Economic World – agriculture and high tech industries
- The Natural World – weather and rainforest conservation
2 option units - At present we choose
- Managing Hazards – The impacts of earthquakes, volcanoes and tropical storms in MEDCs and LEDCs and the management of these impacts
- Managing Tourism – The positive and negative impacts of tourism in MEDC and LEDC coastal and mountainous environments and the management of these impacts
Fieldwork
There is a fieldtrip to the Yorkshire Coast at the beginning of Y11.

Candidates will be entered for either the Foundation Tier or the Higher Tier. Entry decisions will be made during the course.

Core paper – 45%
Option paper – 30%
Coursework – 25%
Coursework
Students undertake one piece of coursework. At present the coursework aim is to investigate the idea that there are marked differences between residential areas within an urban area.
