Currently under construction Key Stage 3 Maths GIFTED AND TALENTED MATHEMATICIANSWe offer opportunities for our most able mathematicians to take part in the national competition organised by the United Kingdom mathematical trust (UKMT) There are 3 challenges taken during the year which take the form of multiple choice tests. The Senior Challenge (mainly Y12 & Y13) takes place in November, the Intermediate Challenge (Y9 &Y10) takes place in February and the Junior Challenge (Y7 & Y8) takes place in April. The best students from the tests go on to do some challenging tests from set by UKMT. Many of our pupils receive certificates and some have received medals from the UKMT for their outstanding performance in the tests. MENTORING Some of our Students are being mentored to stretch their knowledge and enjoyment of mathematics. They are meeting regularly to solve problems which are more challenging in nature than they will see in the normal curriculum. TEAM CHALLENGE A team of 4 students will take part in the Team Maths Challenge, run by the UKMT. This is an opportunity for schools to compete against each other using a wide range of Maths activities which are both exciting and enjoyable.
