What is Tapton like?

We have 1659 students aged between 11 and 18 years old. They were very successful, in 2007, 100% achieved five or more A* - G passes at GCSE. 81% achieved five or more A* - C passes at GCSE. 99% passed their A Level subjects of which 63% were A and B grades.

What Makes Tapton Distinctive?

All our students are special people, they work hard and play hard. Sport, Music and Drama add great richness to our lives. Many students follow the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme, everyone has work experience and opportunities for trips, visits and exchanges. Our sixth form is large and very popular with 500 students and is a source of great pride, our students are successful and much sought-after when they leave us.

We are an "outstanding school" - nominated by the chief inspector of schools in 2007. We hold the sportsmark and artsmark gold status. We became a Specialist Science College in September 2003 and very recently successfully achieved our second specialism in The Arts. We have specialist provisions for visually impaired students. We are an Investor in people school. I hope our website gives you a flavour of our school, and all that makes it such a vibrant place to work and learn.
