| Campanology Cacophony!
The bells, the bells! We joined a group of rather wet, yet enthusiastic year 7 students whilst they were ringing a number of bells. This activity, usually associated with church, took place just outside the main entrance to our school. This had been organised by outside experts from a company who wanted to share their knowledge with teenagers to whom this pastime was unheard of.
The seven bells were tunefully played throughout our visit by a few students, who despite the poor weather were successful in creating a melodic tune for passers by!
One boy was doing very well, Michael. We interviewed him about his opinions on campanology and although this was his first encounter with bell ringing, he seemed to be making excellent progress and told us he thought the activity was “fun”.
Overall, the general impression made was that everyone was having a good time and nobody really minded getting wet because it was so different from a normal Friday morning.
