Chaotic Cosmetics

Half an hour was spent wandering round Tapton on a rainy Friday morning, looking for the head. Finally, after much struggle, we found Miss.Royles and quizzed her on the whereabouts of Mr.Bowes.

“He's just popped out.”, she told us and as she was unsure of what time he would return we headed to the science block to review cosmetics instead of doing an interview with him, which we decided to do at a later time.

There, we were greeted by strong smells, blazing Bunsen's and busy Y7's. The classrooms were chaotic but the pupils all seemed to be having fun. We interviewed Chloe on the activity, she told us, “I am enjoying making body cream and next I will make foot cream.”

The pupils had the choice of making either bath bombs, foot cream or body cream. All of which sounded lovely to the girls, but was it fun for the boys?

We asked Michael and Sam, who appeared to be working hard, what they thought. They told us, it wasn't going well for them and they were frustrated and not enjoying themselves. But, when we spoke to Sarah, a 6 th form helper, she told us that in fact most of the boys were really getting into the science side of things, even if they had pulled a few faces at first.

While the boys were looking forward to the chemical reactions, the girls were looking forward to wrapping their products up and making them look nice. Whatever they were looking forward to, the Y7's really enjoyed what they were doing and a good time was had by all.
