Pandemonium

Tennis balls were flying everywhere! Mayhem on the Astroturf as the Y7's gave lacrosse a shot as a new sport!

The 6 th form lacrosse players were managing to keep the Y7's under control….well most of them!

With the weather being wet and cold, you could really feel the atmosphere out there!

People on the first pitch seemed up for it as they ran around in an attempt to keep warm. While on the second pitch, team building was the game.

We asked Emma (one of the 6 th form lacrosse players) why she liked the sport, “I like the sport because it is different, and a team game.”

Whereas others weren't so fond of it, “I don't like it, the sticks are tacky and they look like fishing nets!” said a stroppy Y7 girl.

So overall the lacrosse lesson was fun and most pupils enjoyed it!

Shame about the weather though, but it doesn't stop them from having fun!!

Fitness can be fun!

Xana, the sixth former in charge of the lacrosse session on the Asroturf, told us that his aim was to encourage more students to play lacrosse as a way of keeping fit. Despite the rain, year 7 smiled as they listened to the instructions of Coach Alex. He was teaching the basics of the game, throwing, catching and dribbling the ball to students who'd not played before. They were quickly involved in a dribbling session which they enjoyed. As the session went on, the noise grew as boys and girls got more excited, completely ignoring the falling rain. They'd be soaked soon!

Indoors, however, pupils were drier but just as excited about their activity – hip hop dance. Even Mr Davis, head of PE, could not stop himself jigging along. Again Year 7s threw themselves about excitedly as the rap beats rocked the room. Aly, a professional dance instructor, was not shy in encouraging the students to strut their stuff. This meant that no one could hide in a corner but they didn't mind. Even those who normally would be too embarrassed to draw attention to themselves were laughing, smiling and dancing on the way back to the changing rooms.
