Surfer Skating

The sports hall was full of Y7 children trying the new sport of street surfing!

The Street surfer board, is like no other, with 2 wheels and 2 twisting platforms! This sport is for the skilled, you need balance and agility to control the board.

Even the teachers had a go! Mr Haslingdon claimed he conquered the board in 15 minutes! We didn't believe him at first, but then when he got on the board we were amazed! Street surfer Dave who ran it was showing us all how it was done as he twisted and turned around the bystanders!

Although a few students said that they didn't like it, because it was too hard and busy (we think they were just frustrated because they couldn't do it!),

A 6 th form student said that it was hard to get the hang of at first, but when he got into it was easy.

The only way to master this board is to be patient and practise a lot. Padding is essential as there were many falls and crashes.

The Y7's were pleased that the school had chosen to do this and many said they would like a board for birthdays or Christmas (hint, hint to their parents!)

So there we have it, another great sport for the kids this year!
