Kites

Creative Kites

When we walked into T11 it all seemed eerily quiet, we wondered what had happened to the noise found elsewhere in the school. However it was the noise of Y9 pupils hard at work crafting kites out of scrap materials.

On the whiteboard, pictures of dragons and serpents were flashing across the screen. Coke bottles, mesh, wire and many other items were moulded into the shape of kites. The kites were not built for flight, but decoration for a drama performance later in the day.

The Indian Forest theme influenced the play that the kites were based on. Mrs Dunne told us that mystical creatures and their guardians were the characters that would be decorated by Y9's kites. Pupils told us that the kites took a while to make but were fun and easy as well once you got into it. The skills used were patience, design and creativity.
