Tapton Becomes the First Microsoft Showcase School in Yorkshire and Humberside
Tapton School has been selected to be one of only 1809 Microsoft Showcase Schools in the world.
Sarah George, Ferida Shehu (Y8) and Felicia Li (Y9) report on this fantastic breakthrough for Tapton School.
We are in an age where almost anything is possible with the use of technology. Tapton joins 28 other leading secondary schools from the UK who are recognised for using tech in effective ways. Only 4 of these are from the North of England! To be one of the Microsoft Schools, we had to go through a selective procedure to prove that we were worthy to deserve this prestigious title.
We already use digital technology in a range of ways and this will only increase as we move forward. As a Showcase School, we are part of a global community, focused on digital transformation to improve learning. We will be working closely with Microsoft to ensure that our school can achieve the best out of it.
“Valuing Everyone, Caring for Each Other, Achieving Excellence,” that is the ultimate definition of Tapton’s ethos. Microsoft software is widely used across the school to share information about the needs of all our students and collate resources. Also, with the help of Microsoft, Showcase Schools like Tapton will be able to come together as a whole community and share ideas online.
Miss Thorpe, Leader of Teaching and Learning at Tapton said ““There’s so much potential in e-learning. Office 365 are releasing new tools all the time. We are looking forward to experimenting with this innovative new technology.”
As a school it will be a privilege to use all of the new resources in different ways. As students we think that the new tech could really transform Tapton. Not only does technology make learning more interesting, it also makes it interactive and much more fun.
