Specialist ICT

Specialist ICT is a crucial aspect of access to the school curriculum for children and young people with a vision impairment. This can be in the form of a braille note taker, computers with speech and magnification software or iPad to assist with access to reading books.

To ensure that students are equipped with the skills necessary to use their ICT equipment with independence, a block of one to one lessons may be necessary as well as in class support. This support will ensure that the students get the most out of the equipment and that they develop efficiency in how they use the equipment which will lead to independent learning strategies in all aspects of the curriculum.
