Our Year 12 students recently took part in the Institute of Research in Schools (IRIS) Conference, joining over 600 students from across the North of England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland!
They embraced the full scientific conference experience—attending research talks, poster sessions, Q&As, and keynote lectures. 🧠📊💬
🧪 Our student teams proudly presented their independent research:
🔹 ATLAS 1 explored particle physics, uncovering evidence of the Higgs Boson using real experimental data from CERN, Geneva.
🔹 ATLAS 2 presented findings on the Z Boson, also using data from CERN.
🔹 MND researchers used yeast as a model organism to investigate Motor Neurone Disease, in collaboration with SITraN, Sheffield.
