Tapton School ranked in top 5% nationally for A-levels

This year’s results are a testament to two years of hard work and perseverance, with our students achieving excellent outcomes.

Many are now moving on to exciting destinations, including university, apprenticeships or employment pathways that reflect their individual aspirations and talents.

Students made outstanding progress, placing us in the top 5% of schools and colleges nationally. Over a third of students achieved A*-A grades, with a remarkable two-thirds of students achieving A*-B grades, resulting in an increase of 2% on last year’s strong results. This year group also recorded the highest ever attendance, demonstrating the clear link between attendance and academic success.

Students are now planning their next steps, and are looking to attend universities across the country to study subjects such as Biomedical Engineering, Architecture, Politics & International Relations, Fashion Design, Mathematics, reflecting the breadth of success across the curriculum. Other students are considering other routes, including one student who is entering the police force.

The results come after an exceptional year for Tapton following our successful Ofsted inspection in November 2024, where we were graded as Outstanding in all areas, praising sixth form students as “the most mature and aware members of the school” who “make the school better for the younger pupils.” These results also underline Ofsted’s comments that “teachers’ superb subject knowledge helps to ensure consistently high-quality teaching.”

Kat Rhodes, Headteacher, said:

“We are incredibly proud of the progress students have made during their time with us. These amazing results will open doors to a range of meaningful destinations where we know students will continue to excel and make a positive difference to the world around them.

Thank you to all students for their hard work, our excellent teaching staff and the support from families.”
