We are aiming to raise £10,000 in order to provide food to families on Free School Meals during the May Half Term holiday.
We are thrilled to finally share the news that Y13 student Will Burton was selected to be one of five brass finalists in the BBC Young Musician of the Year.
Will has been playing the tuba since the age of 12 with Tapton’s brass teacher Pat Philips. He has been a continually dedicated and committed member of Tapton music department, as well as ensembles outside of school, and we are immensely proud of this tremendous achievement.
Will was one of 120 applicants in the brass category and he had to fight off the competition through 3 rounds before reaching the televised brass final where he performed with our accompanist Pete Hurst. Will was in the company of contestants who had been to specialist music school and were already first years at the top music conservatoires - it is a fabulous testament to the hard work that Will has put in through the years that he has reached this level. The brass final was recorded in Cardiff at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama on the 10th March and only people who were in the room at the time know the results.
Will will be on our screens on Sunday 17th May, 7pm on BBC4, so please tune in to show your support. You will also be able to see a short VT from Tapton School when a BBC film crew shadowed Will for a day earlier in the year. More information can be found on the BBC Young Musician of the Year website; https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00bb3wt.
Huge well done from all of us Will!

Schools have now received the guidance on the awarding of final examination grades for GCSE, AS and A Level exams. Please read the detailed response from Ofqual and our letter to students and families on the school website.
Children use the internet regularly and may be involved in more online activity than their parents. Some children may have greater technical knowledge than their parents, but they may be unable to identify the risks of giving too much personal information online, and may be unable to spot scams as readily as adults. More detail is on the information commission website https://ico.org.uk/your-data-matters/online/social-networking/
Following the cancellation of the A Level, AS Level and GCSE Exams students will now be allocated Calculated Grades.
Due to limited staffing and reduced pupil numbers we have had to postpone the cashless catering registration days. More information will follow as soon as possible.
Tapton Sixth Form is highlighted in the Sheffield Star, celebrating students that have secured places at Oxford or Cambridge.

This half term we are continuing our focus on kindness by encouraging students to feel a sense of gratitude for all they have.
